What

We invite designers, developers, and entrepreneurs in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in February 2008. Teams of 1 to 8 are challenged to create a product of their choice. A winning team is then set by participants' votes at the end of the event.

Teams should be setup before the event, and each can come up with their own project. We welcome ninja developers, designers, hackers of all sorts, entrepreneurs, marketing gurus, students, interface designers, project leaders, etc.

Projects can be web-based applications, desktop software, widgets, mobile apps, games, hardware etc. This is however a very limited list, and we welcome teams with fresh ideas. If you solve a current problem, if your idea is innovative, if it involves building new tools, then it's probably a right fit for Blitzweekend.

Blitzweekend will start Friday Feb 29th, at 5pm, where we will gather all attendees, and then have a keynote

The weekend in itself will start Saturday March 1st, at 8am, and will finish Sunday March 2nd at 5pm. Note: the facilities close though at 10pm

Entrepreneurs, unite!

Blitzweekend was inspired by startupweekend, Rails Rumble, startup schools, BarCamp and initiatives like metalab. If you are an entrepreneur, Blitzweekend provides a plateform for launching a startup. Every team will be presenting their project at the end of the event, and can receive feedback from a panel made of serial entrepreneurs, marketing gurus, investors etc., which will assess the viability of your product. We are working on bringing together the brightest minds possible, so follow the blog for future announcements.

How

Blitzweekend is organized according to Open Conference principles. We will provide space, wireless internet, food and ample supply of coffee as well as guru beverages. However, we don't provide computers, lodging, or any materials be it hardware or software to build your product.

Additionally, if you want to participate to the event, we expect you to contribute. Shout the team an email at hello@blitzweekend.com We are currently looking for additional sponsors. You can also help by blogging about the event as well as inviting your friends to participate to the event.

Participate!

Edit the wiki if you want to participate. If you don't have a team or a project yet, have a look at the other participants; you could join an already formed team that is looking for additional members or create your own off registred people in the wiki. You can also join the facebook group, write about your ideas, and look for other participants.
