The Blitzweekend format is controversial and raises eyebrows. For instance, we require that you set a goal for the day, and if you don’t manage to reach it, you have to put $10 in a common pot. In the same manner, if you get distracted during creative sprints, you need also to put more money in the common fund. We’ve got lots going on, so that at the end of the day, it will be the most intense day you’ll have in the week!

Why the hassle? Isn’t that artificial? What’s the point of setting up a goal for the day? As this video shows though, those “small hacks” could well be the secret to accelerate your project:

Scott Belsky: How to Avoid the Idea Generation Trap from 99%.

In this short talk, writer, speaker, and creative professional Scott Belsky discusses what he calls idea plateaus, the inevitable project phase that follows the high you feel after coming up with a new idea. He writes that the creative process is 99% acquired discipline. That’s where Blitzweekend comes in, with an opportunity and framework to develop new ideas and make them a reality. Note also how Scott Belsky talks about constraints and short-term rewards, all the little things that we’ve included in Blitzweekend.
